From the legendary natural winemakers at La Stoppa, under the visionary leadership of Elena Pantaleoni, comes the "Barbera Della Stoppa" 2006. This is a wine produced only in exceptional years, and 2006 was one of them. Hailing from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, the Barbera grapes are grown on old vines in poor, clay-limestone soil. True to La Stoppa's minimal-intervention philosophy, the grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a long, natural fermentation on skins for around 40 days. After a year in large, old oak barrels, it was then aged in the bottle for many years to achieve a beautiful maturity.
Aroma & Palate | A complex and evolved profile with notes of dried red fruit, ripe cherry, and plum, complemented by tertiary notes of leather, earthy mushrooms, and tobacco. Still vibrant and fresh, with a pleasant acidity and silky tannins that have softened with age.
