The Bera family, farming organically since the 1960s, are pioneers of low-intervention winemaking in Canelli, a zone historically famous for Moscato d'Asti. Arcese is their exceptionally lively white blend, a field-blend of indigenous Italian grapes like Arneis, Cortese, Favorita, and Vermentino, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards rooted in calcareous marl—ancient marine soils that impart a distinctly mineral, savoury quality. The wine undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, followed by nine months of ageing on fine lees. It is bottled without filtering or clarifying, and a small amount of residual sugar ensures a final, slight re-fermentation in the bottle, giving it a playful, invigorating fizz that keeps it wonderfully fresh.
Aroma & Palate | A vibrant, refreshing white that is full-bodied and textural, thanks to the extended lees ageing. The bouquet offers a blend of fruity and floral aromas, featuring bright white peach, pear, and apricot, which evolve into subtle nutty and earthy notes. The key feature is the delightful, persistent tingle of natural CO2 (carbon dioxide) that sustains its freshness and provides a clean, mineral-driven finish.
